Four Continents, Four Races – One Grand Slam!

At Zircon, we are used to challenges of a technical nature that require bright ideas and brainpower to resolve. One of our team has signed up for a challenge that is a little more physically demanding and far removed from our comfortable office environment.

www.beyondtheultimate.co.uk organise a series of ultramarathons, each one in stages over about 5 days, in four different continents in the four major climates and terrains of the world. Jon Cameron is already in training for the Grand Slam of all four races in 2015 and aims be the first person to complete this in a calendar year.

The races are:

1. 230km in Swedish Lapland entering a UNESCO World Heritage area in the Arctic Circle.

2. 230km in Peru through the protected Manu National Park.

3. 220km in Nepal in the heart of the Himalayas.

4. 250km in Namibia through the Namib Desert.

In addition to the long distances involved, each race will have its own challenges such as altitude, humidity, extreme heat and cold. Not forgetting millions of insects and other delightful creatures in the jungle too. We wish him the best of luck and will be following his progress online.
